Part of a climate change action plan currently on public exhibition, these plans are explained in a video available via the council YouTube channel or on its website.
The community has until March 12 to provide feedback on the council's first climate change policy and strategy.
The first stage for climate action focuses on activities council can take, with future stages to look at how the community can become more adaptable and sustainable.
It's important we lead by example, but it is also important for the community to see that climate action has been part of our business planning for a long time, across a range of the functions we deliver.
- Paul De Szell
"It's important we lead by example, but it is also important for the community to see that climate action has been part of our business planning for a long time, across a range of the functions we deliver," MidCoast Council liveable communities director, Paul De Szell said.
Mr De Szell said the video explained council's future plans for a solar farm on a landfill site, as well as a sustainability and education centre at Tuncurry Waste Management Centre and a move to electric fleet vehicles.
It also looks at current measures that have been implemented to reduce emissions, including solar panels on council buildings, hybrid vehicles in the fleet, sensor lighting and more.
"We know there's always more that can be done and we will have to do much more if we are to meet our ambitious target of zero emissions by 2040, but this is a new way of life for us, we take it extremely seriously and we're asking the community to support us."
The strategy has 150 actions that council wants to commit to, with feedback from the community on the plans welcome.
