The 1.2 kilometre section being targeted for rehabilitation extends from Peg Leg Creek through to the Bootawa Road intersection, with works being undertaken over approximately five months for completion in May 2021.
These important improvement works are the second part of a two stage project, and follow the reconstruction of a 1.4 kilometre section between Manchester Street and Peg Leg Creek in 2019.
The current upgrade will include pavement stabilisation, road reconstruction, widening of lanes, a new bitumen seal, drainage improvements, guardrails, line marking, and signage.
Along with delivering safety improvements, the project provides an important opportunity to extend the life of the road and deliver a value-for-money outcome by reducing ongoing maintenance.
Lane closures will be required at times with traffic diverted through a single lane under traffic control, and reduced speed limits will be in place.
While access to properties will be maintained throughout the construction period, motorists can expect short delays and may choose to use alternative routes where practical.
