Competitors from the local area, northern NSW and western Sydney tested their abilities on the Wingham track for the first time since the surface was upgraded.
Manning Valley Kart Club secretary Greg Moores said "everything held up and we got through the program really well."
Entrants numbers were also "right up there" with previous attendances for meetings at the Wingham track.
"For some State titles we have around 130 people," Greg added.
When the dust settled, Ben Ford was named senior champion and Cooper Barnes won the junior title.
Both trophies are named in memory of club member Dave Hamnett.
The club was ecstatic the new surface held up for a big program of racing.
"We had many comments about how smoother the track was. This was the main objective of the rebuild," Greg said.
Given the changes to the track and rain, Greg said lap times were about four to five seconds longer than usual.
"That added to the challenge and attraction of racing here," Greg said.
Senior racing was among the most competitive ever seen at the event.
"It was pretty spectacular to see how many karts were on the track at the same time," Greg said.
Forster's Reece Chapman, of Aussie Racing Cars fame, was among some of the big names to cross back over into karting.
Member for Myall Lakes Stephen Bromhead was on hand to officially open the track.
"He flagged the feature class for qualifying," Greg said.
The club also used the gathering to recognise new life members Darren and Donna Stocks.
Greg said the club is gearing up for an action packed 2021 season.
About six club days will be held, but the program has still to be finalised.
The Hamnett will return in early December to avoid a clash with the Supercars Newcastle 500 event.
