Wednesday social
The bowls president, George Sinclair, and the club president, Andy Sloboda, totally outclassed Justin Costa and Eric Pereira with a +17 result to win the money and thereby creating some club history for presidents playing together in a competition. The result could find its way onto the club Honour board.
Wednesday twilight
There were 15 bowlers for Wednesday twilight bowls, consisting of two games of triples (one with a swinging lead) and one game of pairs. We welcomed a couple of new players and saw the return of some old faces, as well as our few regulars.
Fatty and Pam tried hard against Hunter and Tish with Jenny playing as a swinging lead, but went down 20-2. Hunter was on fire and the three girls played some great bowls as well. As for Fatty, well we will just leave it there.
In the other triples game Leroy P, Graham P and Lionel went up against Bushy, Peter H and Tony C. The score finished up 13-7 in favour of Bushy, Peter and Tony but the score wasn't an indication of the game with all bowlers playing some good bowls on occasions.
The final game was the highly contested pairs game between Mark "I was the runner up in the minor singles" Hammond and Eric Pereira pitted against Co l"The Sledger" McTaggart and Dave Mace.
Hammo and Eka shot to a 6-0 lead after two ends. Dave, sporting his new bowls, took a few ends to get the feel of the green. Well really, to be honest, for the first few ends the only feel he had was for the sand in the ditch.
Eric and Hammo played very consistently all night. Hammo and Eka led 11-9 going into the last end. By now Dave had his new bowls walking the walk while Col was doing his usual, talking the talk. Dave and Col picked up four shots and ran out victors 13-11.
Col played some good bowls and held the team together while Dave found his feel with his new bowls.
We are still looking for more players if you know anyone interested.
