Individuals and families will be welcome to lay a personal wreath or pay their respects at any time throughout the day at the Wingham Memorial Town Hall Cenotaph. Please observe social distancing if you attend.
The restrictions associated with COVID-19, as well as the extensive reorganisation of NSW RSL's Charitable Purpose and Management structures have resulted in significantly reduced commemorations and fundraising throughout the last few years.
These limitations have been very disappointing for veterans and their families wishing to remember and honour all those who have served our nation in times of conflict and peace.
Over the next month, Wingham RSL Sub-branch members will join with their comrades from around the State in voting for a new NSW RSL Board under the amended legislation. This brings to a close a wide range of changes to enhance the accountability, structure, charitable purpose and governance of some 360 sub-branches across NSW.
It also means fundraising activities are now able to commence.
"Our members will be selling Remembrance Day tokens and badges at the Wingham Plaza on Friday, October 30 and Thursday, November 5 to the general public, Wingham RSL Sub-branch president, Terry Gould said.
"The funds raised will be directed to the continued provision of welfare and care for local Wingham and Upper Manning veterans.
"We have been very fortunate to be able to provide ongoing wellbeing and compensation support to our veterans throughout the previous period by drawing down on our small investments and by the very generous assistance of the Wingham District Memorial Services Club and Wingham Rotary Club," Mr Gould said.
