The Wingham Chamber of Commerce, organisers of the Wingham Christmas Street Carnival, has made the difficult decision to not allow the event to go ahead this year as the logistics of keeping it COVID safe would be too difficult a task.
At this stage it is anticipated the Street Carnival will go ahead as usual in 2021.
The 2019 Wingham Christmas Street Carnival was a poignant affair as the town honoured local Rural Fire Service brigades with a moving tribute of a street parade, while some stalls taking part in the carnival raised money for bushfire victims.
The crowd for the 2019 Carnival was reportedly double the size of previous years. Funds raised by the Carnival itself were distributed between local fire brigades.
