About Elizabeth

Elizabeth studied drawing and sculpture at City Art Institute and has been a practicing artist for more than 50 years. She has been involved in five group shows and two solo exhibitions throughout Australia.

She has a background in mixed media and currently is working with found object assemblages. She is inspired by the close locale with intrigue to what is in front of her, the everyday. Elizabeth says she likes to work by playing with areas of design then the work creates itself along this journey.

"I have no preconceived idea of outcome. I like the colours to interconnect and start to speak. When I am making art I feel enclosed and absorbed and I wish to keep art making more of a priority as it can go by the wayside," Elizabeth said.

The works in this exhibition have been created in the last 10 years. Elizabeth has been more recently absorbed with floral arrangements which sparks the mind and urge to something else, it may be architectural or magical and a mystery.

Elizabeth says she loves viewing art.

"I find it mind boggling and amazing, there are such incredible exhibitions to see," she added.

Some artists that inspire her include Grace Cossington Smith, Margaret Olley and John Olsen.
