The tide changed and Graeme and his crew then could only win a further two ends but just managed to hang on to take the game 27-24 and now go into the semi-final.
Col Watson, Peter Holden and George Sinclair won 28-24 against Jake and Col Hinton playing with Rex Dawson.
Tom Moore, Laurie Mullen and Alana Burns managed to win against Greg Bartlett, Kev Coles and Robert Allen 22-17. Tom and his team got there by winning the final five ends as Greg's team had led up to that stage of the encounter.
Minor Singles
Barry Kershaw ended Hunter Payton's aspirations for the event with a nail-biting finish after 34 ends. Barry was down by a shot on the final end to collect two shots to win 31-28 . On five ends in the game the scores were level.
Mark Hammond had a good victory over Snow Trenchard 32-19 who had led midway into the game. Snow had remained on 13 for nine ends and let Mark take control of the match.
Mixed Fours
This event is now underway and the team of Steve and Denise Matheson playing with Laurie Mullen and Alana Burns eliminated Tom Moore, Col Watson, Denise Polley and Jo Duncan in a very low scoring game 15-12. On 16 of the ends a single shot was the result and the turning point in the game came on the 12th end when Steve's team collected four shots.
Greg Bartlett as skip had with him Peter and Elaine Holden and Claudia O'Donnell and they outclassed Robert Hardy, Maureen Hollebone, Matt Yeark and Di Lewis 33-10.
Wednesday Social
Winning the event were Peter Holden and Col Hinton with a +23 over Greg Bartlett and George Sinclair.
Justin Costa and Tim Richardson got a +13 win against Robert Hardy and Winston Lattimore.
Dally Hammond, Kev Coles and Eric Pereira also had a +13 win against Jim and John Gillogly playing with Snow Trenchard.
