Sincere condolences and deepest sympathy is extended to Sue and husband Darrell Tisdell of Tinonee and their families including Dave, John and Amie on the passing of Sue's dad, Thomas Albert "Tom" Hyams - known in the family as Pop - who passed away on Friday, July 24, 2020, aged 88 years.
Tom was a special pop to great grandchildren Grace, Charlotte, Archie, Annabelle, Madilyn and Jacob.
Tom was predeceased by his loving wife Mabel.
A private family graveside funeral service for Tom was held in Taree.
Tinonee School
Drove past the school on Friday afternoon and it looked like all the students who were participating in the Colour Explosion and Cross Country race were having a great time and it was a fine sunny day which made it even better for them.
On Tuesday this week, Senior Constable Dave Russell visited the school and spoke with years 4, 5 and 6 students about cyber safety and social media.
He explained the dangers of entering platforms that are not legally age appropriate.
Coming up on Thursday, August 27, the school will be celebrating Book Week.
It is hoped all the children will participate in the Book Week Parade dressed as their favourite character from their best loved book.
End of World War II 75th anniversary
As this Saturday, August 15, 2020, marks 75 years since the end of World War 11 - also referred to as VP Day or Victory in the Pacific - we should all give thanks to those who served and those who paid the supreme sacrifice.
Tinonee remembers those from the local area who have their names engraved on the Honour Rolls which are located on the porch of Tinonee Memorial School of Arts Hall in Manchester Street.
The original white marble Honour Roll, erected in the 1950s, only listed those who gave their lives serving our country in World War I and World War II.
In 2002, two black granite Honour Rolls were added to include all local names known to have served in all conflicts up until now.
Unfortunately there are very few of those who served in WWII with us now.
We will remember them - lest we forget.
