The landcare community has embraced the many challenges of this past year - responding to drought, devastating bushfire impacts and moving to online workshops and events.
And this is nothing new - 2020 saw the 30 year anniversary of Landcare in the Hunter.
In the last year, more than 1000 community members participated in more than 40 workshops and field days through Landcare in the Hunter. Topics ranged from soil health and landscape rehydration, shorebird conservation, bee keeping, from bush fire recovery to biodiversity conservation and tree planting.
"Hunter Region Landcare Network and Mid Coast 2 Tops Landcare Connection support more than 100 community groups through resources provided under their ongoing formal partnership with Hunter Local Land Services. This Partnership is a vital link providing connection between government and local communities caring for the land," said Daintry Gerrand, regional agriculture landcare facilitator, with Hunter LLS .
If you want to get connected with the environment in your local community there is no better way than join your local landcare groups. It is great opportunity to make new friends and learn the skills need to protect your local natural environment." said Daintry Gerrand, Regional Agriculture Landcare Facilitator, with Hunter LLS .
