Tinonee Memorial School of Arts hall committee members including patron Helen Bennett, president/secretary Janette Hayden, treasurer Pam Muxlow and booking officer Jenny Cherry were on hand last Thursday afternoon to welcome a special guest.
Member for Myall Lakes Stephen Bromhead was a welcome visitor as he presented an oversized cheque in the amount of $5890 from the Community Builders Partnership Program Grant to assist with much needed restoration and repairs to the Hall.
Tinonee Memorial School of Arts hall has served the community since 1912.
The official presentation of the funds had been delayed by several months due to the COVID-19.
Some work has already started, including the replacement of the disabled ramp and replacement of canvas blinds on the front porch.
The blinds will help protect the Honour Rolls.
Other work will include replacement of guttering on the building.
The committee is very grateful for this grant and thanks were extended to Mr Bromhead for his efforts in securing the grant money.
Farewell Mary Gollan
Sincere sympathy and condolences are extended to the Burney and Reed families and extended Gollan families on the passing of Mrs Mary Gollan of "Tilkah", Tinonee Road, Mondrook, on Friday, July 10, at the grand age of 91.
Mary Wynter was married to Joffre James Gollan, who predeceased her in 1978. She is survived by her two loving daughters Dianne Burney (predeceased by her husband, the late Keith Burney) and Lynne and husband Marshall Reed. Mary was a much loved grandmother to 13, and a great grandmother of 23.
Mary was a member of Tinonee Red Cross for many years and was involved in the activities of the Mondrook community with her husband. She was a member of the Free Presbyterian Church at Tinonee and Taree.
Mary's funeral will be a graveside service at the Free Presbyterian portion of the Tinonee Cemetery at 11am today, July 15. Rev George Ball will officiate at the service, which will be followed by a wake at Mondrook.
Rest in Peace Mary, you will be sadly missed by your family and friends.
Holidays
I hope everyone is enjoying the school holidays especially the children, but remember to be very conscious of the restrictions which are still in force to stop the spread of the coronavirus.
This especially important following the spike in cases recently in Victoria and now in NSW due to indiscretions by pub and partygoers.
Stay safe, healthy and warm and socially distant. If you feel unwell stay at home, and get checked if necessary.
