Members of Tinonee Red Cross Club supported Taree Red Cross Club's annual Pancake Morning Tea at the Presbyterian Church Hall yesterday, Tuesday, February 25. I hope to have a full report and maybe a pic or two in next week's notes.
Crepe myrtles in bloom
The recent rain has certainly benefited the many crepe myrtle trees around the village and they are looking magnificent with their variety of colours. Nature is certainly a wonderful thing and the rain is indeed the staff of life. The lawns are all looking so green and lawnmowers are buzzing madly as everyone tries to keep them in check.
School News
Despite the drizzling rain over the last week the repairs to the Tinonee Public School administration block roof went ahead and have now been completed.
The next few weeks will be busy ones with a number of events coming up. Yesterday, a meet and greet parent afternoon took place after school was over. It was a great way to have a look over the school and meet other parents.
Today, Wednesday, sporting school begins with gymnastics as the chosen sport for K-6. Once again a call has gone out for more canteen volunteers to help, especially Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. If you can hep contact the school on 6553 1279.
Tinonee School leaders will head to Sydney early March to take part in the Hallogen Young Leaders Conference and I am sure they will all enjoy the experience. A couple of important dates to mark on the calendar are the P&C AGM at 6.30pm on March 17. That same evening there will be a disco for years K-6 from 6.46pm-8pm.
Birthday wishes
Following St Luke's Church on Sunday last, congregation members gathered for their usual morning tea, but it was a little special as two of the members were celebrating birthdays during February. John Murray and his younger brother Leigh cut the cake made for them as they were wished happy birthday. Leigh is one of that elite group of people who only officially celebrate a birthday every four years, having been born on February 29.
Historical Society meeting
A reminder to all members and interested persons the February meeting of Tinonee Historical Society is at the museum this Thursday, February 27, at 7.30pm.
