The choir's two sets of songs featured a story-telling sequence beginning with paying homage to the Indigenous heritage of this country, then an invocation to rain and rivers through body percussion and a series of simple repetitive chants in harmony and in rounds, and some beautiful complex songs.
They sang Troy Cassar Daley's 'Take a Walk in My Country' as a reminder of how beautiful Australia's natural environment is when it is not ravaged by fires and drought.
Wingsong sang uplifting songs about keeping good company, good spirits and the hope of world peace.
Di Woollard made an incredibly beautiful decorated chocolate mudcake that was ceremoniously cut and shared by all. The native flowers were painstakingly hand-made of icing.
The evening was a great success with the combined efforts and good will of all, giving love, sustenance and encouragement to our local heroes before they head off again for seemingly unending deployments to protect the lives and properties of their own and wider communities.
