In the first match Taree West posted 5/103, with Dean Mills (31) and Jamie Hartland (34) enjoying a 54 run opening stand. From there the batting failed. Josh McTaggart claimed 2/11 and debutant Ryan McDermott 1/19, both off four overs.
In the run chase Wingham were in deep trouble at 6/36 before Josh McTaggart 19 and Mick Stinson 23 gave life to the innings, adding 33. But the tail didn't wag with two run outs ending the innings well short of victory. Josh Meldrum starred with the ball taking 3 for 8, Liam Bourne 2/17 and Lachlan Brown 2/9.
Wauchope were sent in and started well with Nathan Lyon adding 25 and Darren Bourke 23, both at run-a-ball pace. Isaac King (14), Paul Jobber (12) and Matt Day (13x) chipped in to pass the century mark by a lone boundary.
Steve Allwood returned 2/13 with the other wickets being spread around.
Michael Rees returned to the side after missing the earlier match. In his inimitable style he blasted 25 from 12 balls before being caught behind. Dave Rees (24) and Ben Cole (30x) put their team within sight of the two points, adding 45 for the 3rd when a mini collapse occurred with the loss of 4 wickets. But Cole ensured victory with two boundaries, despite the efforts of Adam Murray (2/11) and Will Clarke (2/14).
Wingham are opposed to Kempsey Rovers and Port City Leagues Magpies at Chatham Park in this weekend's matches.
