What a week it has been not only for Tinonee, but all of the NSW East Coast, and even up into Queensland, with the horrific bushfires that have continued to rage and are still are causing many problems to landowners and communities.

Many community events had to be cancelled for the safety of all concerned and this included, the Tuesday games morning at St Luke's Hall and also the Thursday walking group's activities.
Tinonee Public School remained closed all of last week due to the fires and bad air quality. I believe it re-opened on Monday morning, for which I am sure parents are grateful.
Tinonee Memorial Hall Committee decided it wouldn't hold its monthly meeting on Monday, November 11, and has rescheduled it for November 25.
My Country Women's Association meeting at Nabiac slated for Tuesday, November 12, was cancelled, as so many of the members were in the fire zone.
It wasn't even accessible for me at Tinonee, or fellow member Jean Price, who lives in Taree, as the Pacific Highway was cut in a number of place several times, and eventually had to be closed.
Farewell Alan Alwyn Carlyle, OAM
Family, friends and community members filled Wingham Presbyterian Church on Tuesday, November 12, at 10am for the funeral service of Alan Carlyle, OAM. He was a much loved husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather and great grandfather, and friend known to so many. Reverend Paul Smith conducted the service and there were eulogies from Alan's son David and granddaughters Tanya and Erica.
Wingham RSL Sub-branch members Ron Irwin and Tony Ryan led the RSL service, with branch members forming a guard of honour as Alan's casket was taken from the church for a private burial at Wingham Cemetery. He was laid to rest beside his loving wife Claire who pre-deceased him six years ago.
Farewell to Ken Malpass, OAM
Another well known gentleman and Wingham RSL Sub-branch member, Ken Malpass, OAM, passed away on Sunday, November 10, after illness.
Ken was involved in a number of local groups including Mt George and MRD Cricket Association. He had the position of president of Wingham Services Club, and was a long time member of Wingham RSL Sub-branch to name just some of those he gave his time and energy to.
Ken's funeral service will be at the Manning Great Lakes Memorial Crematorium on Friday, November 22, at 11am. RSL members are invited to attend and asked to wear their medals.
Heartfelt hanks to all the hardworking emergency services
I couldn't close this week's notes without saying a BIG HEARTFELT THANKS to all the many firefighters, both Rural Fire Service and town brigades, forestry workers, SES and volunteers, who have worked tirelessly to save homes and properties. Also, a big shout out to the pilots of the water-bombing helicopters and aircraft who were been flying non-stop during the crisis. Thanks also to those who stepped up to feed these heroes and help those who had to evacuate. Although some much-needed rain fell about 3am on Monday, much more is needed.
