Fires at Crowdy Bay and Tapin Tops (Dingo Tops) national parks are listed as being controlled.
The RFS has advised residents in the area of Caparra Road and Hardway Creek Road to seek shelter as the fire approaches while Wingham residents have been told to monitor conditions and watch out for spot fires.
Evacuation centres have been opened in Club Taree (121 Wingham Road, Taree) and Tuncurry Bowling Club (21 Parkes Street, Tuncurry). People are encouraged to register online at Register Find Reunite https://register.redcross.org.au/ before attending the evacuation centre.
Schools across the Manning closed early today.
Several roads, including the Pacific Highway south of Taree, are closed.
The Public Information and Inquiry Centre (PIIC), has been opened to assist members of the public in relation to bush fire information for the Mid North Coast, Manning Great Lakes, Northern Rivers and Clarence Valley.

Members of the public are reminded to delay all non-essential travel in fire affected areas to assist emergency services.
Blackouts have been reported. Avoid dangers such as damaged powerlines and the possibility of asbestos in fire-damaged properties.
Essential Energy issued a reminder to the public to stay away from fallen powerlines after a member of the public received a mild shock when they picked up a powerline. He is currently being medically assessed.
"As winds, storm and bushfire activity increases, we implore members of the public to stay clear when powerlines are near, and call 13 20 80 to report fallen powerlines," said Mathew Reedy, Operations Manager - Mid North Coast.
