Tinonee Hall News
The AGM of Tinonee Memorial School of Arts Hall last Monday resulted in all office bearers returned unopposed including president Janette Hayden. The only major change is Barbara Waters as vice president, filling the vacancy left by Helen Moore. The committee was pleased with the past year's operations with several regular bookings helping finances.
As always the committee would welcome some fresh faces to assist with the organisation which meets on the second Monday of each month at 7.30pm at the hall.
Red Cross Conference
Unfortunately I wasn't able to attend the Zone 4 Red Cross Conference hosted by the Taree branch at Taree West Bowling Club on September 12. I heard it went well with some 50 members and guest speakers in attendance. Tinonee branch was represented by president Judy Cluss, patron Gillian Kirton and vice president Alma Murray.
Tinonee Red Cross is preparing to host a Melbourne Cup Luncheon this year at Tinonee Hall but numbers will be limited to 40 due to decreasing branch members. I will have more details in the coming weeks.
Vale Shirley Snowden
It is on a sad note that I write of the passing of Tinonee resident Shirley Snowden early Saturday morning. Shirley was predeceased by husband Bill in June 2018, and is survived by daughters Cheryl, Karen and Rhonda, their husbands, along with grandchildren and great grandchildren. Shirley's funeral will be on Thursday, September 19, at Manning Great Lakes Memorial Gardens Crematorium noon.
Bird Family Reunion
Parking was at a premium as Bird Family members from across the State and interstate as well, flocked to the Tinonee Memorial School of Arts Hall for their bi-annual reunion last Saturday September 14.
Tinonee Public School
The very popular Tinonee's Got Talent was staged last Thursday at the school. Not everyone was able to see it, so a second show took place on Tuesday at 1.30pm. I am sure everyone loved seeing their children and grandchildren show of their talents.
The excursion to Billabong Zoo and Wildlife Park Port Macquarie is next Wednesday, September 25. I remember taking my two children there many years ago. It has grown with many new and interesting species and loads more exhibits.
Year 6 students will have a "Kidpreneur Day" to raise funds for Buy A Bale. For a gold coin donation they can dress as a farmer for a day.
Stephen Bromhead Visit
Eight locals took the opportunity to meet with Myall Lakes State MP Stephen Bromhead during his quarterly visit to Tinonee on Friday, September 13, discussing a number of local issues with him.
