Brigades will open their doors on September 14 and 15 to prepare residents for the bush fire season.
Families will have the opportunity to get to know their local firefighters, find out about the local fire risk and learn just how easy it is can be to prepare for the bush fire season.
As crews continue to battle blazes across the area, the timing for the event is perfect.
NSW RFS Mid Coast district manager Superintendent Kam Baker said all residents need to be prepared.
"Already this fire season we have seen more than 2700 bush and grass fires across NSW," Superintendent Baker said.
"With the vast majority of NSW drought affected and a forecast of ongoing warm and dry conditions, there is the potential for a long and protracted fire season.
"NSW RFS members have been busy preparing by undertaking hazard reduction burns, maintaining firefighting equipment and undergoing training.
"Get Ready Weekend is a chance for Mid Coast residents to do their bit to plan and prepare their family and properties for the fire season."
You can participate in a range of firefighting activities, climb aboard a fire truck, see firefighting displays and specialist equipment.
"Volunteer firefighters will be available to talk to you about the simple things you can do to reduce your bush fire risk, like having a bush fire survival plan," Superintendent Baker added.
"Preparing for bush fires is easier than people may think.
"Have a five-minute conversation and ask yourself - when will you go, what will you take and where will you go?"
