"I did well in the Vardon events last year, where I won five of them,'' Brown explained.
"But this year I hadn't broken through until last weekend so it was really satisfying to finally win again.
"I've have three second placings this year in Vardons, missing out by one shot in all of them. One was also a NSW Open qualifier.''
The NSW Vardon Trophy is open to male amateur golfers who hold a current Australian or overseas equivalent handicap of four and under.
The trophy runs through the calendar year.
Brown shot an even par round at Wyong to win by one shot.

"I was really happy with my round because the conditions were extremely tough with high winds and difficult pins,'' he said.
Brown has started to work with a new coach in Sydney, John Serhan and he said this is making a difference.
"John has been really good for my game,'' Brown said.
A Wingham junior, Brown now plays for the Pymble club in Sydney.
