He has seen wondrous things and outstandingly beautiful places, yet he is happy calling Bootawa home.
He and his partner, Helen, moved up here to get away from the city. Helen took "a huge liking" to the property they are now living on. Over the years, Jim has spent a lot of time developing the property into a big bird and butterfly garden.

He would never, ever move back to the city.
"I've never rued the day. It's so quiet. When I go to the city now I cannot stand the noise and the humdrum," he says.
"I feel there is a more community type feeling here that you don't get in the cities. A lot people in the cities don't even know who their neighbour is. But here it's a communal thing. And that's the way life should be.
"I look upon Wingham as a very gentle, friendly town. It's never grown much but I think people in smaller towns have greater awareness of the environment. They're more in touch with things, whereas in the city people have lost touch with things natural and that's one of the big problems on this earth.

He is encouraged in seeing a lot happening environmentally in the local area.
"When we went to the Envirofair the other weekend, it was a good indicator of how much more in tune people are here.
"And you get inspirational people here who have that interest in the environment.
"When it comes to Wingham, it's a spin off. Look at all the people you saw at the Envirofair from Wingham," Jim said.
