Manning Net welcomes Dr Richard O'Brien, a retired Irish Ambassador to Australia, as the guest speaker at their next meeting on Thursday, June 27 at Club Taree at 6.30pm.

Dr O'Brien's long career with the Irish government included his service as Irish Ambassador to Australia from 1995 to 2002.

A variety of roles and postings took him to many locations around the world and has given him a wealth of experience across a variety of cultures. He also has a wealth of knowledge of Irish-Australian history.

"There has been so much involved in such a varied career that we will surely be regaled with some interesting tales," said Manning Net member Marilyn Thomas.

Richard's time serving in Canberra has ultimately led to his choice to retire to and call Port Macquarie home.

The cost for the evening is $25, which includes a two-course meal with complimentary tea and coffee after the meal.

RSVPs are essential for catering purposes and must be made by 10am on Monday, June 24. To RSVP please contact Susan Ryan 6553 5150, Alison McIntosh 6553 4780, Ruth Brown 6553 9877, or Marilyn Thomas 6551 3416.
