Pairs Championship, May 12
The under-rated combination of Peter Tindall and replacement Mick Hollebone now enters the final following their convincing victory over Jamie Carr and Peter Holden with the final score being 20-10. The winners jumped out of the box by leading 12 nil after eight ends and went on to win 13 of the 20 ends played.
In the other semi Tom Moore and Steve Matheson go to the final with their 26-15 victory over Graeme Ireland and Paul Swan. Tom and Steve were down 7-2 after seven ends but quickly overtook their opposition with some multiple scores including six on the 12th end.
Our No. 3 Grade went to Old Bar and collected nine points with the rink of Tom Moore, Michael Clarke, Glen Dennes and Peter Tindall with a good 29-16 win and they lead 19-4 early in the game. Col Watson, Paul Hodges, Jamie Carr and Terry Rowe were also winners 23-20. Steve Matheson's rink went down by five shots.
No. 7 Grade playing at home came up against a strong Harrington combination and after a good start our rinks could not hold the visitors. John Black's rink of Barry Kershaw, Winston Lattimore and Greg Cuttance found themselves behind by a shot on the 19th end to eventually go down 24-20. The other rinks skipped by Hunter Payton and son Patrick lost by much wider margins.
