Four police cars, two fire trucks and two ambulances were called to the scene.
"We took a lot of cars up there because we didn't know what we were walking in to," Manning Great Lakes Police District's chief inspector Christine George said, adding that if there was a gas leak they would have had to evacuate the premises.
Upon investigation it was found there was no gas leak at Whiddon Group Wingham.
We tested every appliance and it was definitely not in there," Ms George said.
"The gas delivery people were doing gas deliveries in that block. When they do deliveries to those big tanks there's always a bit of an escape of gas, and I think it's just flowed through an open door, and it just happened to be unfortunately right into the nurses' station."
Paramedics checked the affected people and nobody was taken to hospital.
