Customers were waiting at 8am even before the clearance was given to begin and it never eased up all day until near on closing time at 4pm.
Nine members participated, working the various shifts and even had to source further supplies after lunch to feed the continuous stream of customers. There was an unexpected visitor during the morning session when the Easter Bunny paid the workers a visit and handed out some chocolate treats and even stayed long enough to have a photo with some of them.
Many thanks on behalf of the Society for the wonderful public support and allowing the organisation to probably have the best one yet.
I know there were a few aching bones and tired feet at the end of the day.
This coming Friday evening and Saturday afternoon, the members will again be promoting the Society's Museum, when they are part of the Shine Festival, with numerous displays from the Museum at Tinonee Memorial School of Arts Hall.
A small charge for adults of $5 per person and children $1 per person, will gain you admission and included in that is refreshments of cheese and biscuits, tea/coffee/orange juice on Friday and on Saturday there will be light afternoon tea included in the admission.
Publications will be on sale, crafts, souvenirs and a raffle will be held with takings being shared between the Museum and the Hall Committee.
Church Services
A very traditional Good Friday service was conducted by Rev Brian Ford assisted by Rev Gillian Jones at St Luke's, although numbers were down slightly.
The Easter Sunday service was boosted by additional family members and visitors and at the conclusion of the service, congregation members received a small Easter egg from Rev Brian before enjoying morning tea and a chance to chat and catch up. Many thanks again to Leticia McMahon of the SDA Church for the beautiful floral arrangements we were able to admire on Easter Sunday and most other church days.
Anzac Day
With Thursday being Anzac Day, people are encouraged to attend the various services in and around the Manning District.
One such service which I hope to attend with hubby John is the War Graves Service at Wingham Cemetery at 4pm today Wednesday April 24 when Wingham local WWI soldier John William Hoad will be honoured and remembered for his service to King and Country.
This is a very moving and emotional service and invokes our thanks of those who served and to this day are still serving their country in the defence forces.
