Son Andrew and children Keala and Korben arrived on Wednesday. It was full on for the next two and half days with Andrew attending the Wingham RSL Sub-branch meeting followed by dinner at the club with us.
Thursday morning we visited Wingham Fire Station. Many thanks to Captain David O'Donnell was wonderful as he explained everything on the vehicles before the children got to try out the fire hose and sit in the truck. Korben and Keala received a red fire helmet and other gifts. Captain David was happy to be photographed with them and also gave us oldies a wooden spoon, which is the latest Fire Safety Program they are running: Keep looking, when cooking. He told us over half of house fires begin in the kitchen as saucepans etc. are left unattended.
Our next visit was to the Town Hall for the children to see their father's name on the boards in the foyer. Andrew served in Timor with the Peace Keeping Forces. Then it was off to Ellenborough Falls, stopping on the way at Bobin Creek Road to view the plaque marking the place where Jimmy Governor was captured over 100 years ago.
70th birthday wishes
Congratulations to Bryson Muldoon of Tinonee, and his twin sister Rhonda Balcombe of Albion Park, for a belated 70th birthday on Thursday, April 11. Friend Lesley Timperley baked a delicious carrot and walnut loaf which the twins cut to the strains of Happy Birthday following church at St Luke's on Sunday. Rhonda and family, along with Bryson's sister-in-law Elizabeth and family, were present so it was a great time to help the siblings share their special milestone.
Tinonee Museum
Busy times ahead for members of Tinonee Historical Society this month's meeting tomorrow night, Thursday April 18, instead of April 25, which of course is Anzac Day. Come and show your support on Easter Saturday as members man the Bunnings Barbecue. The following week on Friday evening and Saturday afternoon, the members will stage their Shine Festival exhibition at Tinonee Memorial School of Arts Hall with lots to see relating to our wonderful Tinonee. A small fee applies for both sessions as this is a fundraising event for the Museum.
Tinonee Public School
Parking was at a premium around Tinonee Public School on Friday as parents, family and friends attended the Easter Hat Parade and again on Thursday, when the Anzac Day assembly was conducted by school captains and vice captains with Mr Darcy Elbourne and Mr Hardwick representing Taree RSL Sub-branch in attendance. A wreath was later placed on the Honour Rolls at Tinonee Memorial School of Arts Hall. Happy Easter to all and have a safe holiday.
