Last week members shot their last matches at 400 metres in this year's competition and the standard was very high.
In the F Open Class, range records have fallen by the wayside for the past two weeks in a row. Last Saturday Christina Adams set a new range record in F Open Stage 1 at 300 metres with an excellent shoot of 59 and four centres. This week Lance Raftery set a new range record in F Open Stage 1 at 400 metres with a blistering 60 and four centres. With only two ranges left in this year's competition the pressure is on and the two classes to watch are Target Rifle A Grade and F Standard B Grade.
In Target Rifle A Grade Tony Moon has been on top of the leaderboard for most of the year, however an excellent shoot by Jim Blackmore has now reversed the tables. Blackmore is sitting on a three-point lead with only the 700 and 800 yard ranges still to be shot. Unfortunately for Moon he is already sitting on very good scores for both of these ranges so making up points will be difficult but certainly not impossible.
Suzi Laurie had another terrific shoot this week and now has a four point lead over Duncan Robinson. Laurie is sitting on a weak score at 700 yards, which she will be hoping to improve on next week to stretch her lead further. Again, it is not impossible for Robinson to pull a rabbit out of the hat, but with only two weeks to go he has probably run out of time.
New recruits to the F Open ranks Alex Novac and Mark Ellis are honing their skills with their new equipment, all under the watchful eye of F Open guru Roden Lohse. Ray Handsaker is starting to show excellent form in F Open and posted a second stage of 59 and five centres this week.
Meanwhile junior member Dante Novac is continuing to improve his scores in the F Standard B Grade competition.
Craig Laurie had a good day in Target Rifle C Grade to take home the win this week whilst wife Suzi Laurie also took home the win for the afternoon in F Standard B Grade. A very successful afternoon for the Laurie household!
Jim Blackmore was the day's winner in Target Rifle A Grade and Damien Doyle won the Target Rifle B Grade event.
Lance Raftery won the afternoon's handicap event.
