Club Championship Rounds 400 metres and 500 yards March 23
Members of Wingham Rifle Club have shot three matches over the past two weeks and produced some outstanding results. With only five shoots in this year's Championships to be completed more than one discipline will come down to the wire. Whilst most competitors are happy to shoot one 'possible' stage (a perfect score) in an afternoon, Wingham has members who are now shooting double possible scores on a regular basis. The standard of shooting at the Club is extremely high across all disciplines, a testament to why it is known as the premier long distance rifle-shooting Club in NSW.

Club statistician Tony Moon, who is an A Grade Target Rifle competitor, has returned to excellent form this year. In the past two weeks Moon has posted a perfect score of 100 at the 500 yard distance and also at the 400 metre distance giving him two double 'possibles' in consecutive weeks - this is a magnificent performance by any measure.
However this week saw the return to the range of Jim Blackmore after some time away. Blackmore, a fierce competitor and excellent Target Rifle A Grade shooter threw down the gauntlet to Moon on Saturday afternoon and by days end there is only one point separating the two in the Club Championship.
In the F Class division Club captain Chris Barnard also posted a double possible with a perfect score of 120 at the 500 yard range in F Standard A Grade. Barnard is the standout performer in F Standard A Grade in this years Championship and holds an impressive lead over his next rival.
Suzi Laurie continues to gather momentum in F Standard B Grade and posted an excellent score of 117 and eight centres in the 500 yard distance last week. This gave her some valuable points over Duncan Robinson in the Championship. Alas, this was not to last when Robinson had an excellent day at the 400 metre range this week and made up 11 points. Now there is only one point between Suzi Laurie and Duncan Robinson in the F Standard B Grade championship. Both are in good form and this particular category will be hard fought over the next five weeks.
Roden Lohse is the Club's best F Open Class shooter and had invigorated this division within the Club. The Club now boasts a batch of new members, all shooting F Open under Roden's guidance.
Next week members move to the 800 yard distance for the last time in this years Championship.
