A giant book sale will be held at the old Hawkins Ford showroom on the corner of Wynter Street and Isabella Streets Wingham from March 18-21 from 10am-4pm.

The four day sale is being organised by the Rotary Club of Wingham to clear their stock of second-hand books.

All books will cost just $1 each.

For more than three years the club has held a book stall at the Wingham Farmers' Market and other events but retired the stall earlier this month.

"They were just getting too heavy to keep setting them all up," said Rotary's Ron Hindmarsh.

"We decided to pull the pin and have a big clearance."

The club is hoping other fundraising opportunities will present themselves which will be a little easier on the backs of the ageing members.

Today,  Saturday March 9 Rotary are hosting a barbecue at Bunnings in Taree from 8am-4pm and are hoping the uptake of their snags will be a good one.
