Wingham hosted the round of U16 T20s at Cedar Party Reserve on Saturday, coming up with one win and a second in the two matches played.

Versing a depleted Great Lakes side in the first game, Wingham were never really troubled dismissing the visitors for just 63 runs after 20 overs.

Two wickets each to Jack Campbell, Blake Thompson, and Nathan Smith did most of the damage while Cooper Staff snared the other one,Tom Martin took an excellent stumping; Jack Shepherd did well to take two catches. Blake scored 24 runs off 12 balls in the run chase but Clancy Johnston was the star of this first game scoring 34no off 22 balls.

The second game well and truly woke the Wingham side up, with Taree West doing it easy to score 130 runs off their 20 overs.

Two catches to Jack Campbell and an absolute screamer to Calum McKinnon were really the only highlights in a lacklustre and slow display of fielding.

Wingham could only manage 88 in reply; Nathan accounting for 37 of these with Cooper and Jack Campbell the only other Wingham batsmen to reach double figures.

Next week Wingham have the bye before taking on Forster again at Cedar Party Reserve.

Big shout out to the senior Wingham Club for preparing a wicket for the boys. Daryl Irvine did great with cooking a barbecue and providing the music. Alison Shepherd’s playlist got rave reviews from the adults, although the kids blamed their second results on this perhaps…
