At about 11am, crews were joined by Fire and Rescue NSW Wingham and Tinonee, Old Bar and Wallaby Joe Rural Fire Service (RFS) brigades to battle a grass fire off Myall Avenue. Seven trucks were called to the scene to extinguish the fire.
Firefighters indicated strong northeasterly winds caused issues with extinguishing the fire.
Firefighters were then dispatched to locations along the railway line in the vicinity of Railway Street and Kanangra Drive.
The crew received calls between 3pm and 4pm.
Fire and Rescue crews from Laurieton and Port Macquarie provided cover for Taree while the local crews were busy with the fires. A cause of the fires has not been determined.
Brigades were called to the Spring Hill Rd fire at Coopernook on Wednesday evening to put in a containment burn - Old Bar 7, Diamond beach 7, Tinonee, Marlee 7, Taree, Mitchell’s Island, Coopernook 1 and Lansdowne 1/9 responded.
