Around 70 to 80 vehicles turned up to join the convoy, many decorated in the Australian flag.
“There were loads of cars, and lots of Sons of the Southern Cross motorbikes,” organiser Trevor Smurthwaite said.
Doug Askin from Cundletown won the $100 prize for ‘Best Flagged’ vehicle. Best Classic Car went to a Maple Leaf truck from Laurieton, and Best Motorbike to an Indian motorcycle.
The convoy left Wingham to arrive at Old Bar Tavern for their Australia Day festivities, raising funds for the Old Bar RFS brigade.
Trevor said he now plans to hold the convoy as an annual event.
“Everyone I spoke to is keen to do it next year,” he said.
“The wheels are in motion for the next one now!” Trevor said.
