Australia Day Celebrations
I do hope everyone will do the right thing and support the various Australia Day celebrations coming up on Saturday, January 26.
Wingham, Taree, Old Bar, and Krambach have all advertised their celebrations.
I am hoping to get along to Wingham’s breakfast and also have a look at the convoy of cars, trucks and motorcycles that will be lining the streets around Central Park.
They will then travel to the Old Bar Tavern where they will be on display for the rest of the day.
Historical Society News
The Society’s first meeting for this year will be on Thursday at 7.30pm at the Historical Museum and, as always, everyone is welcome.
As it is Australia Day on Saturday, the Tinonee Museum will not be open. Members will be out and about enjoying the local celebrations with everyone else. The museum will re-open on Tuesday, January 29, from 10am until 2pm, as per normal hours.
Meeting postponed
Tinonee Red Cross Branch’s first meeting for 2019, which was to have been on yesterday, January 22, was put off until Tuesday, January 29. It will be at the usual venue of the Tinonee Memorial School of Arts Hall.
School returns
I am sure the students of Tinonee Public School will be all looking forward to returning to school next week and no doubt the new kindergarten children will have their bags packed and ready to go off to big school.
Tinonee Hall Tidy Up
Many thanks to the guys from Tinonee Rural Fire Service who generously gave their afternoon up on Wednesday last to use their skills and equipment to clean the high ceiling fans, replace some light tubes etc. inside the building, and also do a large amount of pruning of the shrubs along the side fence which had grown rather high.
The hall committee, which is mostly made up of ladies, was not able to take on these tasks and are most grateful for the work carried out by the RFS personnel.
Family Visit
I caught up with my cousin Joan from Sydney last week as we were both visiting our aunt Gwen in Taree .
Joan’s daughter Margaret was also up but I didn’t get to see her as she was busy doing family research on the Griffis families who are her connections of hers. They both returned to Sydney on Thursday.
