Nearly one year to the day of the tragic death of Cuddlepie Early Childhood Learning Centre worker Abbey Stephen, the official opening of ‘Abbey Lane’ will take place at the Centre in Wingham on Sunday, January 27 at 11am.

The Centre was broken into less than one month after Abbey’s death, leaving the already grieving staff distraught. Funds raised for the laneway were stolen at the time.The Wingham, Taree and Old Bar communities came together in an show of extraordinary generosity, raising funds to donate to Cuddlepie to enable the laneway, dedicated to Abbey Stephen, to be constructed.
The day’s events will include speeches and the opening of Abbey Lane with ribbon cutting and a plaque reveal. Light refreshments and a barbecue will be provided.
The public is invited to join the Cuddlepie community and attend the official opening in honour of Abbey, and staff request that attendees wear pink.
