The tradition of Australia Day in Central Park continues on Saturday, January 26 but is now much more well-attended that the inaugural ceremony and has a community vibe unique to Wingham.
The Wingham Rotary Club will fire up their barbecue for a 7.30am breakfast and all are invited. Nothing says ‘Australia Day’ better than a sausage sanger.
The official ceremony begins at 8am with Eric Richardson OAM acting as emcee for the occasion, and Darrell McKeogh will once again offer prayers for peace and the nation.

There is a proud tradition of the Wingham High School captains delivering thoughtfully prepared speeches; this year captains Stephen Smith and Rawai Poini will do the honours.
Wingham Rotary Club is hosting the Wingham Australia Day awards with the following categories to be awarded: Citizen of the Year, Sports Person of the Year, Young Achiever of the Year, and Pride in Workmanship.
Caitlyn Cameron, who played a lead role to great acclaim in this year’s Taree Art’s Council production of Les Misérables, will lead the community in the singing of the national anthem.
A convoy of classic cars, bikes and trucks will start from the Central Park Australia Day festivities to travel to Old Bar.
