This follows a disappointing response to last Saturday’s Show and Go event that went from Wingham to Coopernook and return.
Spokeswoman Narelle Reardon had hoped around 14 boats – the same figure as 2018 – would take part.
“That was the feedback we had from Facebook,’’ she said.
However, only six boats took part, with one having mechanical problems before they left Wingham.
The boats were intially going to Manning Point but windy conditions saw the destination changed to Coopernook.
“Some of the boats really struggle in the wind,’’ Narelle said.
One boat owner travelled from the Gold Coast while there were others there from Sydney and Newcastle.
“We think the concept is good,’’ Narelle said.
“But we may have to look for another weekend.’’
Narelle said there was some concern that the boats wouldn’t be able to get through Taree because of the rowing regatta. However, this wasn’t a problem.
“We might look to avoid the clash with the rowing next year,’’ she said.
Narelle understands there was also another powerboat event on last weekend.
“We’ll definitely have another run next year,’’ she assured.
“We’ll just look for another date.’’
