The club held its annual staff recognition day on Friday, December 14 throwing a morning tea for the more than 30 staff members.
Butch was honoured for his 40 years of employment at the club, around 30 of which he has served as the club cellarman.
Though he’s always helped in the cellars, Butch was primarily the bar supervisor for a number of years. He’s still known to help out behind the bar when the club is busy and even take on other duties.
“He’s pretty versatile,” assistant manager Nicole Mullen said. “And highly valued.”
Also highly valued is club administration officer Nicole Wenham who was honoured for 30 years with the club.
Both Butch and Nicole received a clock for their 70 years of combined service.
Cleaners John Earle and Maxie Nowlan were also recognised at the celebrations together with cook Holly Else who have all worked at the club for 10 years.
The awards were a nice surprise to the recipients.
“It means a lot to them,” said Nicole Mullen.
