Local market gardeners Meaghan and Paul Lewers will be hosting a special spoon carving workshop led by woodworking artist and spoon making aficionado Carol Russell on Saturday January 19, 2019.
The workshop, which will be held at the picturesque Creek Cottage Farm in Bobin, is suited to people of all skill levels and will guide participants through spoon carving techniques, timber choice, hand tool use and maintenance.
“It’s wonderful for have someone of Carol’s skill and experience coming to guide us through the finer points of spoon carving,” Meaghan said.
“Carol has been working with wood for over 30 years and has a real focus on using salvaged material and using ecologically sustainable practices.
“As part of the course, participants will get to sample some of our farm’s delicious fresh produce with morning tea, lunch and coffee provided.”
Meaghan said she is interested in providing more arts opportunities for people in the Manning Valley.
“Arts are a great way to build more vibrant and connected communities. We are keen to provide artists with opportunities to pass their knowledge onto others and also encourage people across the region to participate in the creative arts,” she said.
The workshop will run from 9am to 3pm and costs $150. which includes morning tea and lunch. All workshop materials will be provided.
