Christmas functions galore included the combined Tinonee Red Cross and Tinonee Friendship Group’s lunch on December 4, at Mansfield’s on the Manning.
Before lunch everyone gathered at Tinonee Public School to be entertained by the school dance group, the kindergarten years one and two choir, the ukulele group and the intermediate choir. The dancers were colourful and so co-ordinated and the choirs were a delight.
The ukulele group performed so well under the direction of Mrs Rigby and her team of teachers. A donation was given to Mrs Rigby by Judy Cluss on behalf of the two groups to be used for the school library, and to help with the awards at the end of year.
Christmas at Mt George
Five Tinonee Red Cross members joined Mount George Red Cross members and guests for a Christmas Lunch on December 5. Students of Mount George Public School sang, and the senior student band accompanied them. Many thanks to principal Peter Falla and teachers, Ashley Mander and Kate Meehan for their efforts in training the students.
The adults enjoyed a buffet lunch, including Lorraine’s Christmas pudding, before lucky door prizes, the raffle and gift exchange. Lucky me, who hadn’t been to Mount George for several years, came home with a homemade Christmas cake.
Many thanks to the Mount George ladies and the students for an enjoyable day.
Tinonee Public School
I was honoured to be invited to Tinonee Public School Presentation Day at the Manning Entertainment Centre in Taree on December 6.
The school captains and vice captains did a great job introducing each segment of the event.
Congratulations to all the award recipients and the performers.
The new captains and vice captains for 2019 were announced and I hope to have a full report on them next week.
Carols in the Park
The annual Community Carols on the Bob Collier Oval drew a huge crowd on December 7. Many thanks to Taree Lions Club who ran the train ride for free, to the community band and choir who provided the music, to Isabel Howard who gave a solo performance, and Tinonee Public School students, under musical directors Mr Horgan and Mrs Atkins.
About 8pm Santa arrived handing out lollies and sitting for photos.
Many thanks to Mel from Tinonee General Store who organised the huge Christmas raffle.
Quick visit to Queensland
John and I took a quick drive to Beenleigh on Saturday to spend a couple of hours with son Andrew and family before granddaughter Keala was off to the Crete Street Theatre for her opening performance of 67 Bridesmaids. The theatre was packed and the youngsters gave a fabulous rendition. We were so proud of Keala.
