Member for Myall Lakes Stephen Bromhead encouraged all residents to get a copy of volume four of the series, which includes over 100 inspiring short stories written by seniors.
“Older people have so much to offer and I think it is wonderful 100 seniors have been given the chance to share their stories with others,” Mr Bromhead said.
“I would urge everyone to download a copy of the book or head to the library to read a copy which is set to make you laugh, cry and be inspired.”
Great Lakes seniors John Sahyoun of Bulahdelah and Barbara Edmunds from Forster were authors featured in the volume.
John wrote a story titled ‘A Reflection on Life’ while Barbara penned ‘A Worn Out Knee’.
“Our communities are the richer for the seniors that have chosen the Great Lakes and the Manning Valley for their retirement years.
“Their contribution to our community should be celebrated and today’s Seniors’ Stories launch is one fitting way to do so,” Mr Bromhead said.
Ageing Minister Tanya Davies launched the fourth installment of the much-loved publication on Tuesday, November 20 while celebrating with its authors at an event at NSW Parliament.
“This book not only gives seniors the chance to bring their precious stories to life, but it allows them to show off their writing skills and connect with others,” Mrs Davies said.
“Society can benefit from the wisdom and knowledge of our seniors and this book allows older people to pass on their stories to younger generations to enjoy as well.”
The cover of Seniors’ Stories volume four features this year’s winner of the NSW Grandparents Day photography competition.
A copy can be found at all local libraries across NSW from December or downloaded from www.seniorscard.nsw.gov.au.
