The Wingham RSL Sub-branch are hosting a Remembrance Day service on Sunday, November 11 at the Cenotaph at Wingham Town Hall on Farquhar Street.

The commemoration starts at 10.45 with a Veteran’s march from Queen Street to the Cenotaph. The service starts at 10.55 with the Ode of Remembrance followed by the sounding of the Last Post. At 11am silence will be observed in remembrance followed by the sounding of Revellie.
Master of Ceremonies for the service is Tony Ryan, parade commander Brian Willey, chaplains Rev. Darrell McKeough and Rev. Brian Ford, buglar Lincoln Harrell from Wingham High School, pipers Graeme Clarke and Tom Kile. The Commemorative Address will be given by Wingham High School captain Stephen Smith.
Following the Remembrance Day Service will be a Peace Concert inside the Wingham Town Hall to start around 11.50am.
Five school choirs (St Joseph’s Primary School Wingham, Wingham Brush Public School, Wingham Public School, Wingham High School and Taree Christian College) will perform, as well as the U3A Silver Tones Singers, Manning Valley Pipes & Drums, and solo acts George Lewis, Kim Stevens, Lochlan Ross, Ryan Smoothy, Lincoln Harrell, Georgia Hudson, Hannah Grauls and Patrick Hayes.
The concert is expected to be finished at approximately 1.30pm and will be followed with refreshments provided by Wingham Rotary Club and the Sub-branch Women’s Auxiliary.
“I’m really looking forward to this concert”, Wingham RSL Sub-branch school liaison officer Ron Irwin said.
“This is meant to be a joyous occasion. A celebration of 100 years since peace was declared.”
