Wasn’t it lovely to get some rain again? Gardens are looking good and so are the smaller dams, but not much grass as yet. I’ve even seen farmers with smiles on their faces again in our area at least.

On October 9, the Mount George Red Cross Club had a day in the local hall with all proceeds going to the drought relief fund. It was a great day with visitors from Tinonee, Taree and Wingham Red Cross clubs and branches and four visitors from Bundook. Most people went home with a prize the lunch was delicious. Many thanks to the our club members who did a wonderful job cooking for the day. It was a shame a few of our members could not attend.
Tinonee Club is putting on its usual Melbourne Cup Day again this year and all are welcome to come along to the Tinonee hall to join in. The colour scheme is blue and white so dress up to keep the theme. There will be a raffle, lucky door prizes and we can all watch the running of the cup with our friends. Do try to get there.
October 14- 21 is the week we think about all those who are regarded as carers. If you have a relative who is cared for constantly by one of these tireless workers this is the week you might think about giving them a break for even a few hours. You take care of your relative while they recharge with a short a break from their regular work.I assure you they will appreciate it no end.
On Saturday, October 20, there will be a power outage in our area. Be sure to turn off computers and other appliances and have enough water on hand to last from 9am until 3.30pm if you rely on power pumps from tanks for your water supply. It would be a good day to go shopping, or do something to get you away from home for a few hours with the family.
