The project will be conducted in two stages.
The first section starting at Killawarra Bridge extends 870 metres north. This will be followed by stage two works of 1.3 kilometres ending just short of the Nowendoc Road intersection.
The scope of the project involves a full reconstruction including road and shoulder widening, resurfacing, improved roadside drainage, and traffic guidance improvements.
The result will be a wider, smoother and more durable road surface that will provide a safer driving environment for regular travellers.
Work will be undertaken between 7am and 5pm on weekdays during which time motorists can expect short delays.
“Like any roadworks there will be some disruption to local traffic while crews are on-site, however we’ve planned the project to ensure access is maintained in both directions under traffic control,” MidCoast Council’s Rhett Pattison said.
Lane closures will be required for the duration of the project.
They will be managed by traffic controllers during the day and in most cases resuming two-way traffic outside of work hours. Reduced speed limits will apply at all times.
“Motorists are asked to be alert to changing road surface conditions, to observe directions from our crew members and roadworks signage, and to travel with caution in and around the vicinity while we carry out these important improvement works,” Mr Pattison said.
The project is expected to be completed by March 2019.
Further details and confirmed timings will be provided as the project progresses but motorists are encouraged to visit www.myroadinfo.com.au for continually updated information about the works.
