While some professional services had to be obtained, the ball is entirely organised and presented by local volunteers.
All set to be hailed the ball of the century, organisers are busy finalising arrangements.
Check with the Wingham Museum to find out if there are still some tickets available if you don’t want to miss out on this unique event.
Manning Valley Historical Society Diggers Ball Committee chair, Mave Richardson, has nothing but praise for the remarkable community support received.
The committee started the project nearly a year ago with no funds.
As plans evolved, many people came on board with offers of assistance in a host of different ways, including a grant to assist with presentation costs from the Commonwealth Government under the Armistice Centenary Grants Program.
“Our list of volunteer individuals and community groups has continually expanded to now include dozens of people from across the wider community, representing a range of community groups and business organisations,” Mave said.
Wingham RSL Sub-branch president Terry Gould, is also impressed with the response.
“The Wingham RSL Sub-branch is proud to support this historic community event. The community support has been outstanding,” he said.
Both Mave and Terry say the Anzac legacy definitely lives on in Wingham and the Manning Valley.
