It is with sadness that I report the passing on Friday, September 14, of Mrs Nancy Ford of Wingham. Nancy was a much loved member of Wingham Anglican Parish, and was deceased by husband Harry and son Brian some years ago. Her funeral is today Wednesday, September 19, at St Matthew’s Anglican Church at 2pm, followed by a private cremation. Nancy was a gentle and lovely lady in every sense of the word. Rest in peace dear Nancy, you will be missed by brother Tom Yarnold and wife Christine, your children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, sister in law Doreen and husband Brian Betts and many friends.
Springtime Trivia Evening
President Jan Hayden and the Tinonee Memorial School of Arts Hall committee say a big thank you to everyone who supported their first ever trivia night last Saturday. About 53 people joined the fun and tested their brain power with some unusual and curly questions. The winners for the evening were Checked In from Bootawah headed up by Janella Leota. In all there were 10 groups competing for some fun prizes and rewards. The lovely fruit and vegetable tray donated by Mel and Michael of Tinonee General Store was won by Janella, with the lucky door prize going to Thellie. Congratulations to Tinonee Rural Fire Service members who won with the best decorated table. Several of their table couldn’t attend as they had been called away to fires burning in the Manning area. Many thanks to Elaine Turner of Florasensia Everlasting Floral Creations, for her lovely flower decorations that graced the tables. A delicious supper of sandwiches, spring rolls and mouth-watering slices were served at interval with tea or coffee. The evening concluded about 11pm for contestants, while the hall ladies closed the doors at midnight after cleaning up.
Birthday Morning Tea
Tinonee Museum members helped Ray and Judy Cluss celebrate their respective birthdays last week on September 10 and 12, with a morning tea and birthday cake at the Museum. Happy birthday to a special couple from all your friends at the Historical Society.
Anniversary
I am proud to announce it is 30 years since I wrote my first Tinonee Topics September 21, 1988. I would hate to think how many words I have written over that time, however I have enjoyed reporting on the happenings of my town and district, be they happy or sad or even quirky. With the change of news media I am not sure if I will see another 30 years, and would be over 100 if I live that long. Thanks to the staff of the Chronicle and those who have supported me, and for allowing me to write about them in the column.
