“While registrations this year are all done online, it’s an opportunity to come along and meet fellow players and ask questions to the committee,” Club president, Dennis Smith said.
There will be a sausage sizzle available and anyone interested is encouraged to attend.
The new junior formats make it more exciting again this year.
Teams participate in the under 10’s, 12’s, 14’s and 16’s in local competitions, all played on Saturday mornings with the season starting on October 13.
“The Club needs to nominate teams by the end of this month,” said Dennis.
“Registrations are trickling in but it’s always difficult at this time of the year going from footy, hockey and soccer season straight into cricket season.”
This year, with the Active Kids voucher, every player in the under 10’s gets a ball included in their registration.
“e’re hoping for a big roll-up in the under 10 and under 12 age group because of the recent school cricket gala day.
“It would be awesome to see a team in each of these age groups come from each one of the schools. Kids love to play with their mates. That would be something special.”
This year the club is also hoping to put at least one all-girls side in the under 10’s competition.
Girls can play down two years so this side can all be from the one school.
“Imagine the girls against the boys – will give good bragging rights for the rest of that week!”
Players can register at www.playcricket.com.au and use their Active Kids voucher www.service.nsw.gov.au.
