More than 180 children from the school joined together with children at Wingham Public School for a combined School Fun-Run on August 10.
The colour run style event meant kids were splattered head to toe in paint and doused in water by the local firies in the name of fun.
“It was fabulous,” assures Wingham Brush Public School principal Kylie Seaman.
“Every teacher got the opportunity to squirt the kids in colour.”
There were various methods used to distribute the paint including water pistols, water bottles and simply slinging coloured powder at the kids.
Wingham fire captain David O’Donnell parked the local tanker at the top of a hill and assured enough water was sprayed at the approaching fun runners to activate the paint for some all over pattern.
Fortunately it was a particularly warm day and the addition of a fire hose was a welcome one.
All children taking part were encouraged to get sponsored for their efforts which yielded some impressive results.
Two students of Wingham Brush raised more than $1000 each and scored themselves some great prizes.
One received an Xbox video game console and the other a hover board.
Any child who raised $10 or more received a prize of some kind.
The School Fun-Run program has been running Australia-wide since 1987, with participating schools raising over $94 million in extra funding over that period.
As well as fundraising, the day served as an enjoyable way to bring the two schools together.
The kids ran together, by grade and the teachers worked side by side to ensure the smooth running of the event. We understand some even wore tutus.
The two school’s P and Cs held a combined barbecue to keep the young runners well nourished, the profits of which were split between the two schools.
