Tinonee Friendship Group members were disappointed their whale watching excursion from Forster last Wednesday had to be abandoned due to rough conditions at sea. Instead of the planned excursion the members gathered at Tinonee Memorial School of Arts Hall for a cuppa and fellowship. It is hoped another attempt at the end of September will be more successful and the majestic creatures will be in abundance for the members to witness. 

Birthday Wishes

It’s a double birthday celebration in the Cluss household this week with Ray celebrating his special day on Monday and today, September 12, its Judy’s turn to celebrate.  Many happy returns from all your family and friends including the guys and gals of the Friendship Group, Tinonee Historical Society, Tinonee Red Cross and not forgetting Judy’s friends of Taree Quota Club.

Wingham Parish Talent Spectacular

Well what can one say about this event on Saturday afternoon, September 8, in St Matthew’s Church.  Performers ranged from some very young ones through to the more senior members of the parish and none were shy. There were 13 acts followed by a short interval and then another 11 acts in the second half.

The evening had skits from the recently formed youth group, St Luke’s study group, St Matthew’s Tuesday morning ladies group and these were all in the capable hands of emcee Ron Hinshelwood who kept the program rolling along. St Luke’s members even did a line dance.

Congratulations to the youngsters with their musical numbers, and acts and encouragement from Grant Abbott of the youth ministry team, Greg Anderson from MVAC and the Randle Family.

With performances over, those present gathered in the Fellowship Hall to enjoy a bring and share supper, discuss their acts, and mingle. We are not sure if we can do better but there was talk it might happen again next year, who knows.

Rain Drops

The little bit of rain we have received over the last couple of weeks had tended to green up the lawns in the village, and in some of the paddocks, but much more is still needed. However it is pleasing to see the dams along the Tinonee/Wingham Road still have a supply of water in them. 

Landowners are reminded Fire Permits are now required before doing any burn off and the Local Rural Fire Service can advise when and what can be done in this regard. We hope the season will be a safe one without too many severe outbreaks due to carelessness or whatever.
