Nearly a dozen people held up signs that encouraged councillors not to approve the name.
At the meeting, councillors will address a rescission motion that blocked the approval of the name at last month’s meeting.
Another major topic of interest will be an update on the planned relocation of council office staff to the former Masters site at Taree South.
The cost of fitting out the proposed centralised office space to house 350 staff would be in the order of $18 million, according to a report.
Other items on the meeting agenda include a proposed electric vehicle recharge station at Nabiac, the naming of a reserve area at Bohnock and councillor attendance to the 2018 Cities Power Partnership Summit.
