Acrobats Luke Taylor and Karen Edelenbos were in Taree on Tuesday to give free workshops ahead of Circus Oz’s shows at the Manning Entertainment Centre in September.

The Circus Oz trainers (who don’t appear in the show) ran three sessions at the Taree PCYC, with one for students from Manning Gardens Public School, one for members of Circartus in Wingham and another with PCYC gymnasts.
Lauren has been a member of Circartus for the past two years and said the workshop was lots of fun.
“We met new people and we got to do things on the mat, like the caterpillar, and you got to roll around and you got to do some handstands,” she said.
Luke said one of the purposes of the workshops is to spread the word about the circus world.
“It's not competitive and there is a focus on working together, encouraging each other, and if you have a different technique it’s about sharing your knowledge and your skills. At the end of the day it’s about making friends and being active,” he said.
The sessions saw the trainers work with participants on basic techniques and ensuring they were doing things correctly.
Jill Watkins from Circartus said it was great to be a participant and for her students it was great to have concepts reinforced.
