Jo-Ann Wallace, Bernadette Rogal, Karissa Hartley and Suzanne White, known as ‘East Coast Wallaby’s’, will embark on a 100 kilometre walk on Friday, August 24 as part of the Oxfam Australia Trailwalker.
They will join hundreds of other groups to walk from Parsley Bay to the outskirts of Manly and will include the renowned Great North Walk and the Harbour to Hawkesbury Walking Track.
With the walk just around the corner, Jo-Ann said the time for long distance training is over.
“We’re just keeping nimble,” Jo-Ann said.
She added the terrain will have an impact on their trek.
“The first 50 kilometres will be the hardest,” Jo-Ann said.
The group will avoid sleep to continue the walk through the night.
Fundraising efforts for the walk have already beaten an original target of $2000.
“We’re close to $3000 with more still to come in,” Jo-Ann said.
The team met up last weekend to sort out meal plans and coordination with their support crew.
Visit www.trailwalker.oxfam.org.au/my/team/30086 to donate to the team.
All participants in the Trailwalker must be in a group of four and complete the course in under 48 hours.
The event is also held in Perth, Melbourne and Brisbane.
